A healthy dog is a happy dog. Here you can find everything you need to know about keeping your dog healthy. Learn about vaccinations, or treating fleas and worms, and discover how to tell if your dog isn't feeling well.
Finding a good vet
If your dog’s breeder or a neighbour can recommend a good local vet, that’s fantastic. Otherwise, drop in on a couple of surgeries, look around their waiting rooms, make sure they have the necessary certificates – and then go with the one that you’re most comfortable with.
Check-ups and vaccinations
Take your dog for a check-up as soon as you can after you get them. Ideally, they’ll already be on track with their vaccinations. But if they’re not, then get these booked as soon as possible. Until they’re fully vaccinated, it’s not safe for your dog to be on the ground where other dogs may have been.
You’ll also need to discuss worming, flea treatments, nail clipping and other general care. If your dog refuses food for more than a day, has diarrhoea or vomiting, or is lethargic for no reason, then you should phone or visit your vet for advice.
