Your dog will need to go to the toilet as soon as they wake up, a few minutes after every meal, and at regular intervals in between. Your dog’s only concern is to do it away from where they eat and sleep, so unless you want them to go in your bedroom or behind the sofa, you’ll need to do some toilet training.

When your dog starts to circle and sniff, it means they’re about to go to the toilet. Get them outside to a convenient spot, tell them clearly what to do and then reward him with praise and a treat when they do it.

Repeat this and your dog will soon get the idea and might even give a bark or two to warn you when they need to go.

You’ll still need to be patient, as accidents will happen.
