How to make dog training easier

It’s not that dogs don’t want to do what you say. They just don’t know what you’re trying to tell them. So can you get your dog to understand and obey your commands?

Remember your dog is motivated by treats and praise. Punishment won’t work nearly as effectively. Your dog is likely to get confused about what they’re being punished for and end up learning the wrong thing. They could even learn to be naughty just to get your attention.

With a handful of tasty treats and lots of praise, you can teach your dog pretty much anything. Just keep it fun and follow the three R’s of dog training:

1.  repeat;
2.  reward; and
3.  reinforce.

To help get you started, we’ve put together some videos giving you training hints and tips for your dog
